Invention Disclosure Process

Invention Disclosure Form (INDX)

The INDX is the first documentation of an invention received by the CHWiin office and the receipt of this form officially initiates the invention evaluation protection process. The INDX:

  • Demonstrates that the inventor has been diligently seeking protection for an invention(s).
  • Must have a descriptive title of the invention and provide a detailed description of the invention’s functionality.
  • Must identify all the inventors who contributed all parts of an invention(s).
  • Must describe the uses and application(s) of an invention(s), and the problem it solves.
  • Must explain the advantages it has over the existing technologies or products.
  • Must show the dates when the invention was conceived and reduced to practice.
  • Must show the date of first disclosure (past or future) and the kind of disclosure (seminar, publication, abstract, etc.) anticipated.

The CHW iin, after it receives the INDX, will contact you immediately to schedule a one-on-one meeting to discuss the technology and assess the best means of protection.

If the CHW iin Office determines that the INDX has not been completed or needs additional information, it will contact the inventor(s) and request that the INDX be fully completed.

Please remember that the patenting process is a business decision and that publishing is a scientific decision.

Please note that patent laws are changing in the United States and the sooner we file for protection, the better the chances we have to obtain protection.

Any questions or comments, please contact the CHW iin Offices at (602) 406-8702.
